Spalted Maple is a type of wood which has black, marble-like veins within the grain of the wood. These veins form as a result of the beginning stages of decay within the tree. If the maple tree is cut at just the right time, the black veins will still be hard enough to work with and won't crumble into dust. Each tree will develop unique veining patterns. Because of this, please see the last 2 images for the available colors and vein patterns, in order from 1-8.
